As you are aware, Central Government has announced plans to simplify local government in Staffordshire by replacing the current two-tier system of district and county councils with unitary councils. These new councils would be responsible for delivering all local services in their area from education and social care to waste collection and planning.
To ensure that any future proposals reflect the priorities of our communities, we are launching a public survey which will be live until Monday 1st September. This survey will gather views from residents, businesses, community groups, and partners. It will be supported by in-person and online engagement opportunities, as well as focus groups across the district.
We’ve already submitted an interim plan to Central Government and received feedback. Now, we’re developing a final proposal and we need your input to get it right.
