Final 5 days until plan opposition deadline (31st May noon)

Councillor Jenny Barron, of Weeping Cross and Wildwood Ward. and Councillor Mr Brian Wyatt of Acton Trussell, Bednall and Teddesley Hay Parish Council get together to oppose plans for housing on Wildwood and Acton Trussell Boundary.

With only 5 full days to go until the closing date of Friday 31st May 2024 at midday this is our final planned update

Read below to see your options:

Acton Trussell, Bednall and Teddesley Hay Parish Council are opposing the inclusion in the South Staffordshire District Council Public Plan 2024 of a site (036c) on Acton Hill, on the southern border of Wildwood. In the Plan this is wrongly identified as Weeping Cross.

It is presently for 81 houses; if we lose this battle, we are advised that the developers will immediately seek to increase to >200 houses and will likely win this. The same developer has an option on adjacent land, all the way to the present boundaries of Acton Trussell, with plans for >2800 houses, not immediately, but later.

The Parish Council has appointed an expert Planner to assist in opposing this; it will be fought in front of the UK Government Planning Inspectorate. South Staffordshire District Council (SSDC) have confirmed their opinion, the Plan will not change. Despite this being a called a consultation, it is actually the route to submit objections/representations to the independent Inspector. We need support for Expert advice, so please donate if you can: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/actonhillplanning

Residents of Wildwood and Baswich, within the Stafford Borough, have joined with the residents of Acton Trussell, Bednall and Teddesley Hay Parish Council, supported by Councillors of the Borough, to oppose this unwanted and unnecessary housing on Acton Hill.

The key basis points for opposition are:

  • LACK OF NEED
  • VISUAL INTRUSION AND IMPACT ON FARMING AND ENVIRONMENT
  • IMPACT ON CANNOCK CHASE AONB
  • IMPACT ON SERVICES IN WEEPING CROSS AND STAFFORD

As part of these are the issues related to excessive traffic (and speed) on Acton Hill Road, through the Parish towards the M6 motorway, and additional traffic around Wildwood and Baswich into and from Stafford.

We have a Petition Form to enable ALL to support this opposition campaign. Please download blank SSDC 2024 Register of Opposition below,  sign it, get your neighbours and friends to sign it and e-mail it to campaigns@batth.co.uk  This will allow YOUR name and support to be attached to an Expert drafted series of opposition forms, that the Parish Council will submit of your behalf; simple.

You can submit your own objections, in addition to signing. ALL objections/representations MUST be submitted to SSDC before noon Friday 31May 2024. Best by hand (ask for receipt) or better by e-mail (keep proof of sending and better request a read receipt) to External Email for Local Plans localplans@sstaffs.gov.uk  The staff there are very good and will honestly record you e-mailed objections.

Thank you,

Your Parish Council
