News from the Parish Council – Give your feedback on permanent lights on Mill Lane Bridges
Many of you will know that we have been pressing Staffordshire County Council Highways Department for some 2 years to resolve the repeated flooding of Mill Lane at the first bend after the Acton Gate roundabout.
We have also been pressing them to repair the Acton Mill Bridge since the delivery vehicle partially demolished the parapets in 2024 and, of course, to further repair the
multiple potholes after their campaign in 2024.
There is good news and, for some, bad news. The good news is that these repairs are to be combined into a single campaign of works, planned from 9th to 20th June 2025. The bad news is that, despite a request for these works to be undertaken during school holidays, minimising the impacts on parents transporting pupils to schools, this was not possible.
Please be understanding in respect of the necessary disruption that these works will cause and, if you have contact with any of those executing the works, please show them courtesy. It is not their fault that you are being diverted.
Not connected with the above, there have been suggestions from some within the Parish that we should request Highways to install permanent traffic lights to control the traffic across both Acton Mill and ActonTrussell river bridges in Mill Lane, as a combined pair of bridges, stopping opposing traffic OFF the bridges, not on one of them as at present. Here is a survey of for all Parishioners to complete .
The next Parish Council meeting will be Wednesday 21 May at 8pm in the Parish Community Centre, Acton Hill Lane. All Parishioners are welcome at 8pm
