Potholes in the Villages

The Parish needs your help!!

One of our roles as a Parish Council is to highlight risks and issues within the Parishes and do all we can to help resolve them for the good of the whole Parish – the three villages of Acton Trussell, Bednall and Teddesley Hay.

We do his through engagement with Staffordshire County and South Staffordshire District Councils, on issues that are not under our direct influence (which are most of them).

Clearly Potholes are a huge issue and one that falls under the control of County Cllr David Williams who has the responsibility for this. He controls the budget for the maintenance of roads in the county which includes potholes, gully repairs, pavements and the cleaning of drains…fundamental to the maintenance and repair and of our roads to prevent potholes, and the repairing of potholes.

As a Parish Council we have raised and chased continually the issue of severe potholes in Bednall, especially the deep and recurring potholes on Common Lane towards the Penkridge Road, the approaches to Acton Trussell from the A34 onto Acton Hill Lane and A449 onto Mill Lane, just to highlight some of the worst, sadly there are far too many list here, but just getting the worst ones repaired is proving very very frustrating.

As a Parish Council we have been formally raising the issues since 2019 with no resolution. We have put them at the top of our risk register, and we have raised formal requests time and time again, literally every meeting. We appear to be banging our hands on the proverbial brick wall to try and get resolution, but to no avail, we are as frustrated with this as much as we know you are.

As a next step please register a vote so we can show the County Council just how frustrated the Parish is as a whole with the lack of works…. if you are part of the Acton Trussell, Bednall and Teddersley Hay Facebook group, you will find the post to VOTE there…

We really want to push as one here and show the County Council our frustration with the current, and very sorry state of our lanes.

In addition can we ask you to submit reports of potholes , blocked drains and other defects on the MyStaffs App as detailed below. This we hope, will really help support our formal complaints and approaches that we are making and continue to make on behalf of the villages.
